“worship, witness, study, service”
Centre Street Baptist Church has been part of the St. Thomas community since 1839 (from 1839-1879 we were known under various names, and met in different locations, but have been known as Centre Street and have met at the corner of Centre St. & Southwick St since 1879). We continue to exist as a community of Christians who believe that God has demonstrated His love for us all through Christ. We take the Bible seriously and endeavour to follow its teachings and apply its principles to daily living.
Centre Street is a friendly place where you are welcome to come and worship the Lord and become part of a community which has experienced God’s love and is attempting to pass it on to others. We invite you to consider some the activities and programs that we offer, but more importantly, we invite you to come and experience God’s love yourself.
What can you expect to find when you are among us? We are a friendly crowd, so expect smiles and a warm handshake. We are a mix of ages, even having 4 generations of some families worshipping together. We strive to be able to make people feel comfortable and welcomed.
We worship in fairly traditional manner, with a beautiful organ and grand piano played by our talented music director. But we also work in some new favourites, and make use of new technology including powerpoint and videos. Our choir and soloists share weekly selections. Sermons are biblically based, and directed at helping apply biblical truth to our lives and ministry.
We offer Tea, Coffee and Conversation (TCC) following our services, for a chance to enjoy each other’s company, and build a strong community feel.
From September to June we meet each Sunday for worship at 11am, and we offer Sunday School at 9:45am. For several decades we have shared worship with Knox Presbyterian Church for the summer months at 10:30am. Check out the “What’s Going On” menu for some ways to come and see who we are and what we do.
