Just caught word that Earl Scruggs has passed away, aged 88. The legendary bluegrass musicician’s most well known accomplishment is the theme for the Beverly Hillbillies, recorded with Lester Flatt (“The Ballad of Jed Clampett”).

When it comes to Banjo Legends, Scruggs is it. Here he is, live, doing Foggy Mountain Breakdown, one of the best (if not the best) Bluegrass tune ever written with Steve Martin and Men With Banjos Who Know How to Use Them:
