Did you do your homework?

Last Sunday Centre Street marked Remembrance Day, and honoured our vets and their fallen comrades.  I gave the children some homework- to hug a vet this week.  I also challenged the adults to do so.  So, have you done your homework this week?  How many of you took time to honour a brave Canadian?  Not that I glorify war in any way, but we honour men and women who wanted folks an ocean away to have the same quality of life they had back home.  Canada has always been committed to selflessly helping any nation threatened by violence, and I think that’s worth standing in respect.

O Canada!
Our home and native land!
True patriot love in all thy sons command.
With glowing hearts we see thee rise,
The True North strong and free!
From far and wide,
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
God keep our land glorious and free!
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

Ruler supreme, who hearest humble prayer,
Hold our dominion within thy loving care;
Help us to find, O God, in thee
A lasting, rich reward,
As waiting for the Better Day,
We ever stand on guard.
God keep our land glorious and free!
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

Also thought I’d share this video from the Trews, a super cool Canadian band:
