Found a great post over at the Cardus blog, posted by a father of teen-agers, with some important considerations for youth ministry. Studies have shown that teen brains work quite differently from adults, and the judgment centre is among the last to develop, making teens and early twenty somethings impulsive, rash, and prone to high risk behaviour. Don’t believe it? Just check out fail blog.
But perhaps there is something to the National Geographic version that this impulsive, rashness makes it possible for teens to navigate the difficult social and cultural atmosphere of our society. Maybe not. Either way, teen hubris when caught on film provides me with considerable entertainment.
